I just got word from my insurance provider that I will only be required to pay $1100 when I check out instead of $14,000.  The hospital agreed to accept a wire payment form Aetna Global Benefits.  pretty cool.  Here's the email:

Paul:

We have secured your direct pay with the facility for your surgery - please see below.  You will be required to pay the $1,100 (payment currency of euros) directly to the facility which is your out of pocket maximum per your AGB plan of benefits.  AGB will wire the remaining amount due as indicated by the facility.  Please see the notes below.

Please let me know if you need anything further in regards to the direct pay.  We will do everything we can to make sure your experience with AGB is a positive one and one that exceeds your expectations!

Woo Hoo! I am very please with Aetna's service and customer care.

Roast Beef night for me and Salem! Print E-mail

ImageI just got off the phone talking with mom.  We were talking about one of my favorite meals that she would cook when I was a boy; roast beef dinner.  Yum, what could beat a rost beef with mashed potatoes and red wine gravy???  This is a picture I just took of a roast beef that I am cooking tonight.  Me and Salem will have a feast, although it's only a two pound roast.

I asked mom to put some of her best recipes onthe site.  I can't wait to get her apple bread recipe.  It's so frikin good it melts in your mouth. She said she got that one hand written form her mom, and that it's so old you can barley read it anymore.

By the way mom, do you recognize the baking dish?  You bought it for me in Lucca, Italy a couple years ago. I got the idea to lay the meat on a bed of onions from dad.  He gave me a BBQ ribs recipe which required the laying on of ribs upon a bed of onions. Delicious.

Hi Everyone,

Paul just showed me how to type in my new blog.  Pretty neat.  Now it will be easier to keep in touch when we're on the road.
