 I took Salem for one of his walks today and ran into one of the neighbors and his dog. I have seen them before, but we never got to let the dogs meet. This couple, also American, has a huuuuge St Bernard. He must be almost 3 times Salem's size. The dog's name is Larry. His dad is a Doctor at Heidelberg (American) Medical Center.
When Salem first saw them he barked, but I could tell it was because he had never seen anything so big. The lady was very leary of Salem coming near her monster. She was affraid Salem would bite him. I told her he was fine and had never biten a dog or person. So we let the dogs exchange business cards (butt sniffing) and then Salem and I walked with them for almost 3 miles! They showed me a really cool meadow that is off the beaten path where they let their dog run loose to play. These two dogs abolutley loved each other. I have never seen Salem have so much fun. They were jumping all over each other, humping and the whole bit. Salem was even whining (which I never heard before) he was so excited. He came home covered in St Bernard spit all over his beautiful coat, so I will have to give him a bath before our trip to Munich on Tuesday.
