Great in Germany
Greta in 2003
Rest in peace baby girl.

Greta passed away on Feruary 18th 2008.  She was just turning 15. She had to be put to sleep late in the evening due to complications which arose form her battle with cancer. She was held tightly and lovingly during her last moments with us.

What can you say about losing your pet of 15 years?  She was a good dog?  She lived a long happy life? How about;  She was like a child to me.  She was my best friend and she will always be missed. No other dog will ever take her place.

Greta, when I think back over the past 15 years, there is hardly a memory that doesn't include you.  I love you girl and you will be sorely missed.  I hope your little soul is free and happy now.  Until we meet again.  Daddy

Sail on silvergirl,
Sail on by.

Your time has come to shine.

All your dreams are on their way.
See how they shine.

If you need a friend

Im sailing right behind.

Like a bridge over troubled water

I will ease your mind.

Dad: ...
Paul I am so sorry about greta....I know how tough it is. I cried all the way home from the vets when I had to put Rummy and mandy down. Greta was a sweety. We are having our ashes as well as rummy and mandy buried with us...More than likely, Cody and Tess as well.....Salem is going to miss her, as I know you will, just think of the fun times you had together. I will talk to you later once again sorry about Greta..........

aawwwhhh Paul. I'm so sorry. I know it's a hard thing to do to take a friend like that on thier final trip. I'm sad. I wish I could be there to help. She lived a good life.

It's weird, cause yesterday I was just in such a mood. I wonder if some how I knew. I wish I wasn't here at work today. I'm here if you need me bro.

I'll miss her too.

You gave that girl a wonderful life and she was so full of life as well. Everyone that ever met her loved her. My sister Cheryl sends her sympathy. I'm sure that my Dad is welcoming her home....maybe this time she won't keep him from getting in the car! ; ) such good memories of her.

Paul, it was sad news to read this morning. I'm sorry I can't be there to help. I hope you and Salem aren't too sad. We read this this morning and it got me all choked up too. You sure treated her like family. I remember coming back from Germany a couple of months ago and telling Tim that I want to come back as one of your dogs because they have quite the life! Ok, I was kind of calling them spoiled brats. smilies/smiley.gif I know how much you'll miss her. I'm really sorry to hear it. Take care and I'll talk to you soon.

Hi Paul,

You've got to know how terrible I feel about losing Greta. I know how much you loved her and my heart aches for you. She was a great friend to you, but you did the right thing. There's no way you could let her suffer and she would have if you'd been selfish and kept her going for you. I told you you'd know when you needed to do it. She had the best life any dog could have had being your girl. She loved you just as much as you loved her. goodbye Greta. Grandma loves you.

Dear Paul,
Zach just told me about Greta. I am so so sorry. Putting a dog to sleep is one of the hardest things ever. I know you love her and she is your family. My dog is family to me also. I hope Salem is alright. It will be hard without his sister. I hope you can comfort each other and find comfort in the fact Greta had a long life. I was thinking of you yesterday and now I know why. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Jaena: ...
I am so sorry to hear about Greta; I cried when I read your blog entry about her. I've also said a prayer and asked my guides to help her along in the next part of her journey. She will still be with you and remains, as always, Daddy's Girl. Losing a beloved pet is one of the hardest aspects of life and the grieving process is something to thoroughly see yourself through. Give yourself as much time as you need and just remember that each day you wake up is one more day closer to when you will see her again. I love you, I'm thinking of you, and I'm praying for you. Take care.

Love,
Jaena

....poor Greta. Rosi always spoke so highly of her, and my favorite story is that she would growl at you and kiss you at the same time. How wonderful was that? Greta hung in there for a long time, that sweet baby.

Awwwwwwwwwwww ... I'm so sorry. It's only been a year since I lost Chewy and I still think of him every day.

Paul and Salem: ...
Thank you so much for all your kind words. I was so heartbroken to see her go, but seeing all these comments and memories has helped so much.

It warms my heart to see such a crowd gathered in her remembrance. I spent the day yesterday blubbering like a baby as I read them all. Greta was truly loved and did live a long happy life.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, they mean so much!
Salem and Paul
